Laboratory
Quality Lab Services
Cherokee Regional Medical Center offers a complete range of laboratory services on-site at the hospital. There’s no need to go elsewhere when your doctor orders a blood, urine, or other diagnostic testing. Our experienced staff can assist you with fast and efficient testing, so you and your doctor can get the information you need.
What to Expect with Lab Tests
If your doctor has ordered a blood test, you may be asked to fast. This means no food and nothing but water to drink for 10-12 hours prior to your blood draw.
Once you’ve given a sample, a lab technician will analyze it to see if your results fall within the normal range. (Normal is different for each person, so tests use a range.) How long does it take for blood test results to come back? Most test results are completed and reported to your doctor in about 24 hours. Some tests can take longer.
Lab tests are often part of a routine checkup. Your doctor may also use lab tests to diagnose medical conditions, plan or evaluate treatments, and monitor diseases.
