Hawki: Free or Low Cost Insurance for Children in Iowa

Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (Hawki) is partnering with Cherokee County Public Health to serve your county and ensure that children across Iowa have access to affordable medical and dental insurance. Hawki provides coverage to families across various income levels, setting it apart from other programs with stricter income requirements. The monthly premium is determined based on income, with a maximum cap of $40 for any family, regardless of the number of children they have. Many eligible families are unaware of this resource, resulting in the underutilization of Hawki.

Hawki and Cherokee County Public Health are partnering to serve eligible families in Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, and Sioux counties in Iowa.
