Effective immediately, all Cherokee County Public Health COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
held in the city of Cherokee will be moving to the old Roosevelt Elementary School building located at the corner of E. Bow Drive and N. Roosevelt Avenue. The first clinic to be held in the new location will be the 2nd dose booster clinic scheduled for Thursday, March 4th.
Moving forward, all of Cherokee County Public Health’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled to be held in the city of Cherokee will take place at the new location until further notice.
“As we begin to administer a second dose to some community members in conjunction with continuing to provide first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to others, we felt it was time to utilize a larger space so we can continue to run our vaccination clinics efficiently and effectively,” said Melissa Cunningham, VP of Clinical Service and CNO at Cherokee Regional Medical Center. “Now that the old Roosevelt school has become available, we feel this is a great space large enough to social distance as well as offer plenty of parking. In addition, if we receive an increase in vaccine allocations from the Iowa Department of Public Health, this space will allow us to expand our vaccination process as needed.”
Cherokee County Public Health would like to remind everyone who has been scheduled for a primary COVID- 19 vaccination to please continue monitoring their emails and text messages for information regarding their 2nd dose booster appointments.
If anyone age 65 or older has questions regarding their COVID-19 primary or 2nd dose booster appointments, would like to cancel an existing appointment, or does not have access to the online scheduling process, they may call the Cherokee County COVID-19 Message Center at (712) 225-6850. In addition, anyone age 65 and older who has internet and would like to schedule their first COVID-19 vaccination is encouraged to do so online at www.cherokeermc.org.
